The Land

Land

The land in Indonesia is very fertile because of the volcanic ash. Farmers grow a large amount of crops. About 10% of Indonesia's land can bee farmed. There are about 3.2 million acres of dry-patty fields, and another 15 million acres of permanent dry-patty fields. In Indonesia there are 3.3 million wet-patty fields. Most fields produce two crops a year. Some products from the fields are sugar cane, coffee, tea, tobacco, palm oil, cinchona, cloves, cocoa, sisal, coconuts, bananas, cotton, and spices. Major crops grown in Indonesia are rice, cassava, corn, yams, soybeans, and peanuts. Fruit is also grown in Indonesia.

Livestock

Livestock:

Farmers raise cattle, chickens, goats, pigs, sheep, and buffalo. They also raise ducks, turkeys, and geese.

Fishing

Fishing:

Fishery production have risen in Indonesia. Most fish that are caught come from waters near the shores. Fish are harvested by fishermen using small boats.

Indonesia also produces farm and wood products, cars, trucks, air planes, rubber tires, soap and other goods. Indonesia is one of the world’s major rubber producers.
